PURPOSE: To provide for the integrity of the fiscal system and the timeliness, reliability and relevance of the financial and accounting functions, financial reporting, audit preparation.
ACCOUNTABILITY: To the Mission and Goals of Ecumenical Ministries of Oregon (EMO) as determined by the Board of Directors and as administered by the Executive and Deputy Directors.
REPORTS TO: Director of Finance and Administrative Services/Executive Director
DIRECT REPORTS: None.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage operation of Central Fiscal systems of the agency:
- Maintain accounts payable.
- Enter monthly recurring accruals and journal entries as needed.
- Prepare reports from accounting system as requested including bank reconciliation and other reports or statements.
- Provide coverage for other finance and administrative staff during their scheduled and unscheduled absences and performs other business office duties as assigned.
- Assure accurate and timely submission of records and reports related to the position.
- Insure that EMO books and records are prepared for the annual audit in an accurate and timely manner. Liaison with and assist external auditors.
- Assure that EMO is in compliance with standard internal control policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to work within the mission, vision and ethics of Ecumenical Ministries of Oregon.
- Willingness and ability to work with people of diverse ethnicity, socio-economic circumstance, religion, culture and sexual orientation.
- Minimum 2 years bookkeeping experience at levels commensurate with the job responsibilities.
- Demonstrated experience in a high-level accounting position within an automated and manual-processing environment.
- Experience in reviewing monthly and annual financial reports and budgets.
- Exposure to non-profit accounting and knowledge of project costing methods and overhead rates for use in grants and contracts.
- Evidence of skill in anticipating and communicating priorities in a dynamic, multi-level environment.
- High-level organization and prioritization skills and ability to maintain a calm, professional demeanor.
- High tolerance for ambiguity and change.
- Skills/abilities and/or education/experience necessary to perform the duties of the position.
HOURS: Part-time position, approximately 20 hours per week.
SALARY RANGE: $12-$15 per hour.
