Russian Oregon Social Services successfully provides culturally specific domestic violence and sexual assault services to Russian-speaking refugees and immigrants.
Our mission is to increase the awareness and understanding of domestic and sexual violence in the Russian-speaking community and provide support, advocacy and opportunity for self-empowerment to victims of domestic and sexual violence, enabling them to exercise free and informed life choices. We are committed to strengthening families through education, community partnerships, direct services and advocacy using culturally appropriate strategies to ensure that those affected by violence will recover and not perpetuate the cycle of violence.
By providing services, the program goal is to change social attitudes, perspectives and beliefs of the Russian-speaking population related to domestic violence and sexual assault.
Our vision is that social change within the Russian-speaking community will eventually lead to a significant decrease in domestic violence and sexual assault in this community. The service delivery is respectful, easily accessible, non-intrusive and focuses on safety and confidentiality for the victim.
ROSS also provides emergency client assistance, translation and advocacy on behalf of clients while working with mainstream victim and social service providers.
