Healthy Kids is the newly expanded coverage in the Oregon Health Plan for all of Oregon’s uninsured children. Eligible children receive comprehensive medical, dental, vision, mental and behavioral health coverage for free or at a very low cost. The goal is to make sure at least 95 percent of Oregon’s kids have health insurance. View eligibility requirements.
Families can sign their children up by contacting any Certified Application Assistance Organization (CAAO) or Department of Human Services office, as wellas by contacting EMO’s Healthy Kids outreach project coordinator, Andrew Plambeck, at (503) 221-1054, ext. 211. A list of CAAOs can be found at www.oregonhealthykids.gov.
Ecumenical Ministries of Oregon is a targeted outreach and enrollment grantee, meaning we are actively recruiting congregations and other faith-based organizations to become Certified Application Assistance Organizations (CAAOs) and help families in local communities through the application process.
We are also directly helping families through the application process at our Northeast Emergency Food Program, Shared Housing, Russian Oregon Social Services and Sponsors Organized to Assist Refugees programs, as well as our central office.
To start, call to Andrew Plambeck at (503) 221-1054, ext. 221. Through the process, your organization will need:
- A completed application, which can be obtained through www.oregonhealthykids.gov or by contacting EMO’s Healthy Kids Outreach Project Coordinator (see contact info below).
- Verification of your organization’s registration with the secretary of state’s office.
- A completed W-9 “Request for Taxpayer Identification and Certification.”
- A designated staff member or volunteer able to pass a criminal background check and fingerprinting.
Congregations and organizations helping with application assistance are eligible for a cash incentive from the State of Oregon. For each application that results in Healthy Kids enrollment, your organization will receive $75.
